New Grants programmes from Parkinson’s UK are now available for physical activity providers and marginalised communities. The grant schemes aim to help fund activity providers or marginalised communities to give people with Parkinson’s more opportunities to get and stay active.

Grants for physical activity providers

Parkinson’s UK provides grants of up to £3,000 to help support physical activity projects for people with Parkinson’s across the UK. Your organisation or club can apply for the grant on the Parkinson’s website. On the website, there are support tools to help you make the best application.

Physical activity grants for marginalised communities

This is a new grants programme aiming to help more marginalised communities offer physical activity sessions for people living with Parkinson’s.

This programme also provides grants of up to £3,000 but for marginalised communities in the UK. The grants aim to help people with Parkinson’s from marginalised communities gain access to active and engaging local physical activity classes.

For this new grant programme, Parkinson’s UK are looking for any innovative new projects that will help marginalised Parkinson’s communities who do not currently have access to physical activity opportunities and are located within local authorities with the highest levels of deprivation indicated by the Index of Multiple Deprivation in the UK (2019).

To apply for this grant, you either need to be working with or be a part of one of the marginalised communities and community groups listed on the Parkinson’s UK website. Funding can be offered for exercise call provision, consultation with the Parkinson’s community and towards engagement events.

Applicants can apply for up to 60% of their funding to contribute to physical activity sessions and 40% towards community engagement.

If you are unsure about your eligibility or need advice about the required criteria to apply for one of the new grants, your local Area Development Manager (ADM) will be able to support you. You can find your local ADM here.

Support with your application

If you would like some support with your application, there are lots of resources on the Parkinson’s UK website. You can join an information session which takes places online. They cover the grants criteria and priorities, what the organisation funds and doesn’t fund and what it’s looking for in an applicant.

There are also bid writing guides which give you hints, tips and guidance to help you write a strong funding application.

Applications are open from Monday 2 June to Sunday 10 August
